Everyone frowns when they get notified that their airtime balance is low or they have no airtime at all after talking for just few minutes on the phone. If you are a Glo customer, there is a way of avoiding that frown and actually smile as you talk on and on. That way is the Amebo way and if it interests you, you will be knowing more about it and the code to use. Read on.
If you are Nigerian, you would be familiar with the word “Amebo”; it is a term used to refer to someone that talks too much. That is simply what this call plan is all about and it gives you 5x the value of airtime you recharge so you can talk more. It is often mistake by some people as Glo Amiibo.
Glo Amebo Code
To get 5 times of your airtime value with Amebo from glo, the code to use is *555*Airtime Recharge Card Pin#. Normally Glo subscribers recharge with *123*Recharge Card Pin# but on amebo, the “123” is replaced with “555”. That is all you have to do to enjoy the extra credit, there is no migrating or subscription of any kind.
For those who regularly recharge their Glo line via e-top up, it is still possible for you to get 5x the value of your recharge. However, you must recharge either 150, 250, 300, 400, 600, 700, 800, 900, 1,200, 1,500, or 4,000. It will not work if you recharge other amounts.
As you recharge, the system will notify you if you would like to get the 5x value, simply follow the on screen instructions to get it.
You can use this 5x bonus airtime to call and SMS all mobile networks in Nigeria. It can be used to make international calls but to Canada, China, India, the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States of America (USA) only.
Calling any other international destination other than the listed 5 will attract charges from your main account balance. The bonus can also be used to browse the internet if and only if you do not have an active data bundle.
Amebo Validity Period
As it is with most bonus and awoof airtime, there is always an expiry date and amebo from Glo is no different. The bonus airtime you get is valid for 14 days (2 weeks) for all recharges below N500 and 30 days (1 month) for N500 recharges and above.
Interestingly, the bonus airtime can be rolled over which is advisable if you do not want your airtime to waste. You roll it over by recharging before the bonus expires.
Supposing you purchased airtime worth N500 which is valid for 30 days, you can rollover the remaining bonus if you make another recharge within the 30 days. That way, the old bonus is added to the new bonus and the expiry date of the new bonus stands for all.
This is different from accumulating validity date as accumulating validity date is not possible on.
How to Check Airtime Balance
The 5x bonus airtime you get when you recharge is not stored in your main airtime account, there is a separate account for it. That is to say that you cannot check your balance by dialing the regular *124#. What you will use instead is *555*5#, when you dial the code, an SMS notification will be sent to you containing the balance.
Charges on Amebo (SMS, Browsing & Call Rates)
The charges is different from that of your regular airtime. All calls (both local and international) are charged at 60 kobo per second (60 Kb/Sec) while local SMS are charged at 20 Naira each. For browsing, each MB is worth N5.
How to Opt Out
Most Glo customers ask this question, remember it requires no migrating or subscription so it is not a tariff plan. To stop using it, all you have to do is to recharge your line using the regular *123*Recharge card pin# and not with amebo’s *555*Recharge card pin#.
Other Things to Know
Below are some other important things to note about this code if you are going to use it.
The bonus airtime you receive is non-transferable, you cannot share it with other Glo customers.
You can make use of this code no matter the tariff plan you are but note that it disqualifies you from any other bonus from your tariff plan (both airtime and data bonuses).
Upon expiration of your bonus, you’ll get an SMS as notification and calls will then be charged from your main airtime account. You can recharge and receive the bonus multiple times in a day. It has no limits.
Getting airtime bonuses is something Nigerians love and will always continue to love, so this offer from Glo is really appreciated by their customers. With Glo Amebo, you get more talk time to call and SMS anyone in Nigeria and fair enough, the rates are the same for all mobile networks in the country.
